Just before Joshua dies, he presents the people with a choice. They can either serve the Lord in their new land or they cannot. If they do, then they will enjoy it forever. But if they turn away from Him to other gods, then He will take it from them and they can go live under those gods in their land and reap their benefits (of which there are none.)
