The Israelites want an earthly king like the rest of the nations. Samuel warns them about the power that an earthly king will have over their lives and says if they knowingly make this choice, then when they regret it, God will make them live with the consequences. Yet they still choose an earthly king. Why do we look to what others have instead of realizing what we have in God? He is the One we should serve, obey, fear, and worship. No man is worthy of that.
