Who Do You Turn To?
Though Saul wanted to please God, that never appeared to be his first thought. His first thought always seemed to be for himself. He was always trying to protect, elevate, or gratify himself while also pleasing the Lord. So, God’s ways and will were an afterthought. Then when he didn’t please God, he seemed sad and full of regret. But it never changed what he did moving forward. He wanted favor from God and man while simultaneously refusing to do what it took to please them.
