God set up the Levitical Priesthood but it could not last forever. The Old Testament prophets pointed to a Messiah, Anointed One. He would be the Anointed King of the Jews. The Anointed One that offered Himself for the atonement of all people's sin. He was the Sacrifice that put an end to all animals sacrifices. He is the High Priest that lives forever, ending the Levitical priesthood. He intercedes for us still today, at the right hand of the Father.
